Synopsis: Forty three political prisoners are exiled to a small island. They are making ready for their escape. Overcoming the suspicion between each other, their personal escape turns into an organized rebellion. The antifascist uprising in Bulgaria of 1923 has been unsuccessful and the imprisoned rebels are sent to a small island. Most of them are sentenced to death, but their aspiration for freedom does not abate. They plain several escape attempts and on several occasions make a bid for freedom. These attempts are unsuccessful and they are all killed. What remains after them is the example for solidarity, friendship, and selflessness.
