The main characters are the Priest and the Handsome. The two soldiers guard the wire fence that runs along the border and they gradually start to understand that the guarding is not so much for not letting anyone in but for not letting anyone out of the country. These are the laws of the communist system. For every killed or caught escapee the soldiers are awarded with a furlough. The Priest has a nervous breakdown and slowly he becomes a killer. The Handsome is disagreeing with this absurd morale. Is there going to be a retribution for the killers and freedom for the honest man?
